Griffin '2' Much '2' Day Dysons Rovers 4 - 3 Northmet Riverside Reserves First Half: Dysons were well off the pace and second best to everything. Northmet found their feet early on and pressured the Dysons defence line from the first whistle. Mistakes were being made all over the pitch and Dysons were (same old same old) with a terrible, well below par performance. After numerous chances of coming close to scoring Northmet took a well-deserved lead. This time a great bit of skill from the Northmet left winger saw him bring the ball under control and cross the ball to the back post where the Northmet striker was left completely unmarked to take a touch and rifle the shot past goalkeeper David Barker giving him no chance. Dysons needed to lift their game but failed to do so. A couple of half chances saw Alan Bazell hit wide from a lay off pass by Scott Griffin. Robert Balmer came close with a close range Right foot volley off an Andrew Hastings cross. Then Dysons were punished again. Sloppy defending left Northmet to extend the their lead when again their Left winger got in a good cross and the striker was left to bundle the ball in from close range. Dysons continued to under perform but 5 minutes before half time they pulled one back. Scott Griffin went on a run down the left wing and was fouled out wide. Scott stepped up and rifled a low curling free kick around the wall beating the keeper and giving Dysons a bit of hope. Unfortunately just before the half ended Northmet made it 3-1 when sloppy defending again saw the ball bounce in the area unchallenged and the Northmet striker made the most of it to tuck away the shot for a deserved 3-1 lead.. Second Half: Don’t know what happened at half time but Dysons came out transformed. Within minutes the score was pulled back to 3-2. Scott Griffin took a quick throw in as Jamie Day ran through and took the ball in his stride. Jamie outpaced the defence and calmly slotted away a left foot strike into the bottom right corner of the goal. Then after 20 minutes of fighting for the match Dysons were well on top and in control. Quick passing through Terrence Munro and Robert Balmer saw Scott Griffin turn in the middle of the park and rifle a 35 yard shot bending all the way into the right side of the goal to level the score. Dysons continued to press &created several chances before eventually taking the lead. With 15 minutes to go Robert Balmer & Scott Griffin linked well with a quick passing move which Robert drilled the cross low in the box. The ball hit Jason Beckford and was laid back out to Robert Balmer who drove another fierce cross into the danger area. Jamie Day got on the end of it and calmly drove home the shot from close range to seal the first league victory of the season to Dysons. Excellent Bounce Back Ability.
