Dysons Roll Into The 3rd Round 

Dysons Rovers 1 - 4 Rolls Park

First Half: Dysons started brightly. Rolls park were passing the ball round well and Dysons were battling and playing well which made it an interesting match. Rolls Park had early chances and should have scored had it not been for an outstanding Goalkeeping show from Club Captain David Barker. A good move from Rolls Park left winger saw a cross come across the box to an unmarked striker 10 yards out who hit a hard shot at goal. Somehow David Barker Dived instinctively and punched the shot away for a corner kick. A couple more fine efforts saw David Barker tipping shots over the bar and around the posts on numerous occasions showing his agility and reflexes. Dysons also had chances. Gavin Darling could have scored on 2 occasions. The first came with a great turn on the edge of the area from an Andy Soteriou pass. Gavin shot low but it just went wide of the left post. Then Gavin was played through one on one with the keeper but failed to strike the ball as a bobble got the best of him and pushed the ball wide. Robert Balmer had a good chance from a corner. Scott Griffin curled in the corner that the Keeper punched out. Anthony Robinson picked up the lose ball and crossed a lovely ball into the box where Robert rose high and headed just over the bar. Then came the opening goal on the 20-minute mark. Robert Balmer played a pass into Scott Griffin who then turned on the ball and played Robert back in down the left wing. Robert cut a low cross into the box for Gavin Darling who took a touch and volleyed over the sliding defender. Then with 10 minutes of the half left Scott Griffin made it 2-0. Andy Soteriou passed him the ball outside the area & Scott took on a player and hit a great strike into the left side of the goal.

Second Half: The second half got a little sloppy. Dysons were punished early on. Rolls Park got back into the game when again the cross came in from the left side and a player was left unmarked to head home the goal. 2-1 and Dysons were rattled. It took a while for them to gain composure. But as Rolls Park pushed for the equaliser Dysons managed to break. Scott Griffin played a ball through to Jamie Day who outpaced the defence to hit a low shot which was saved well. But the keeper couldn’t hold the shot and Scott had carried on his run and picked up the rebound to set the score to 3-1. With only minutes left of the match Dysons scored a 4^th. Alan Wilson had only just been pushed back upfront when he struck. Scott drilled a low cross into the box and Jason Beckford was very unlucky not to score himself when he turned the defender and hit the post. Alan Wilson followed up the rebound and struck a low first time shot into the net to secure a 4-1 result.
